If you’re reading this then you have already got a lot further than I did when I first started training. As you have probably already seen, there are a lot of so called “experts” in the fitness/nutrition industry but a lot of them don’t have a clue what they are talking about (other than the paid ads they are given to post, the workouts they are given by expensive celebrity PT’s or the nutritionists on hand 24/7 to hand feed them the correct food). So before I get tainted by the same brush I wanted to give you a little introduction to me, my transformation and my ongoing journey!

This blog is going to be the place where you can read regularly about:

The best foods that worked with my journey, how I train, the little extras that make a difference, the empower team we have, supplements, working everything around your life  to help you achieve your transformation and finally – we’ll discuss how to fight the demons, win the battles and create a better you!

That’s where my introduction is going to start.

I used to say “I was considerably fatter” but that’s not a fair description of me, in fact of anyone. Nowadays I say, “I was considerably more unhappy”. Mainly because weight is just a number and if you’re happy with where you are at, then I tip my hat to you! But if you’re reading my mumbling then you’re here for a reason.

I didn’t start this journey to lose weight and gain a 6 pack (which is useless other than for taking pictures or being scared that every time you eat chips you’re going to lose it by the way!). I didn’t start so I could be the strongest in the room or better than anyone else and I definitely didn’t do it to compare myself to the people I mentioned earlier. But I did have my reasons.

That’s why you’re already a lot further in your transformation than you think by reading this, it means you’ve stepped up with a real reason to change.

So, I’m Olly, thanks for coming! I’m hoping all this helps, even if it helps one person to understand that all the hard work and little battles every single day are worth every second in the long run.

I started my journey in February 2019, weighing 17 stone. This was no one’s fault but my own as I didn’t train, I was eating as much as I wanted until I couldn’t move and stayed in bed until I needed the loo on a weekend! Sounds like absolute bliss doesn’t it?! Until you take into account how I actually felt. I was overweight, I was miserable and I was tired every hour of the day. I look back at pictures in Feb 2019 and I don’t see the weight I’ve lost sitting on me, I look straight into the eyes of those pictures and I see the weight of the world behind them, I see the lack of drive and ambition and I see the lack of a decent lifestyle!

As I mentioned I started my journey for a reason, my reason was my mental health. I could have turned to something else but I decided to win my daily battles with training, learning about nutrition and pushing myself. Fighting those little battles so that the big battles won themselves. Your reason doesn’t have to be your mental health to win those daily battles or achieve something you’re aiming for, that was just mine.

My goal was to be much healthier mentally but as they say “healthy body, healthy mind”… So I decided I wanted to lose some weight and get active.

SO! You’re probably asking… what is a daily battle? My example of my daily battle at the start of my journey was not picking up that biscuit a customer put out with my brew, swapping my heavy carbohydrates and fats for more veg in my meals (stay tuned for this post) or going to bed one hour earlier. It might sound silly but back then those were the things that I found hard. I say back then because now it’s much easier to refuse that biscuit (this is not always true, Olly loves a biscuit), enjoy eating those foods or staying up too long because I know how good other things make me feel! The same way you will find certain daily habits hard to drop but you will replace those unhealthy habits with healthy ones once you feel the results.

Now if you have gotten this far then you will have noticed I haven’t even spoken about how I trained, how often I did or the programme I used. Don’t worry, I will get to that in the future. I haven’t spoken about it here because my job isn’t to push you into a gym or kick you towards something you don’t enjoy. My job is to make you realise that literally anything is possible, if you find something you fall in love with and are ready to start your journey, if you have your reason and you are serious about what you want then you won’t start next week, you will start now!

Every single one of us is capable of achieving anything we want and if the Empower team need to be there every single step of the way, then good! That is exactly why we are all here! After all, it’s the meaning of the word…
